Klein GO Information Session: Communication and Cultures of the American Southwest

Klein College of Media and Communication

Join us for an information session overviewing "Communication and Cultures of the American Southwest".

This course delves into the unique communication of American Southwest cultures, with a focus on indigenous nations, oral histories, art, and photo storytelling. We'll examine historical and modern colonialism, as well as how groups counter racism and colonial influences. We'll teach photo storytelling, oral documentary methods, and emphasize environmental stewardship and ecotherapy's role in human well-being. Our destination is New Mexico's northern region, including Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and an extended stay at Ghost Ranch an expansive retreat blending science, art, spirituality, and nature.

This seven-day Spring Break trip includes a seven-week pre-departure course, encouraging students to introspect their global stance, promoting cross-cultural sensitivity and competence.
