A two-day training in role-immersion games for GenEd classes. Workshop participants will train with the game Greenwich Village, 1913: Suffrage, Labor, and the New Woman. Twelve IH faculty and twelve faculty from across CLA will be selected to take part. The training is open to both full-time and part-time faculty. Participants from IH will be expected to join a spring teaching circle devoted to developing an RTTP game for use in Mosaic II classes. Similarly, we encourage applications by CLA faculty interested in jointly developing an RTTP game for a GenEd course offered by your department.
About Reacting to the Past
Reacting to the Past (RTTP) consists of elaborate games, set in the past, in which students are assigned roles informed by classic texts in the history of ideas. Class sessions are run entirely by students; instructors advise and guide students and grade their oral and written work. It seeks to draw students into the past, promote engagement with big ideas, and improve intellectual and academic skills.
